Call for proposals for AAMC GFA Professional Development Conference
The AAMC Group on Faculty Affairs (GFA) is accepting proposals for skill-based workshops, podium presentations, ignite sessions, and posters for the GFA Professional Development Conference scheduled for July 15-18, 2024, at the Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans. Do not miss the opportunity to share your expertise in sustaining faculty vitality, mentorship, leadership development, and more. Interactive panel presentations, small-group discussion formats, and submissions that incorporate collaboration are highly encouraged. The deadline for proposals is January 5, 2024 by 11:59 p.m. PT, and acceptance notifications will be sent in February 2024.

More than 6,500 medical residency and fellowship programs benefit from AAMC-Thalamus collaboration in 2023-24
According to new data from the AAMC and Thalamus, more than 6,500 residency and fellowship programs have opted to use the Thalamus platform as part of the collaboration with the Electronic Residency Application Service® (ERAS®). These programs represent more than 75% of the nation’s medical residency and fellowship training programs participating in the ERAS program during the 2023-24 application cycle. “We are thrilled by the momentum the collaboration is building in the application, selection, and interview processes in graduate medical education,” said David J. Skorton, MD, AAMC president and CEO.

Call for applications to implement and evaluate the Principles of Trustworthiness Toolkit
In 2021, the AAMC Center for Health Justice published the Principles of Trustworthiness and a toolkit to guide organizations in building and sustaining equitable partnerships with their communities. A new opportunity from the center will award up to five multisector community partnerships with up to $30,000 to formally use the Principles of Trustworthiness Toolkit and contribute to its evaluation during a one-year period for future improvements. An FAQ and recording from a recent informational webinar further explains the application process and expectations for participation, and addresses applicant questions. The application period closes Dec. 22.

Register now: Conference on addressing the epidemic of firearm violence
On Feb. 11-13, the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, in collaboration with the AAMC, will host an in-person event to build student and faculty leadership in addressing the epidemic of gun violence. Co-hosted by two medical schools in communities impacted by gun violence, medical schools are invited to send teams of 3-4 students or residents and a faculty member to share public health approaches to address this critical issue. The event is designed for teams of medical students and faculty to discuss skills and approaches to engage their community in conversations, curriculum, and programming that uses a public health approach to reduce gun deaths and injury. Participants will have an opportunity to engage with national gun violence experts, build advocacy skills with elected officials, and remember those whose lives have been lost.
