The application period for the Mid-Career Women Faculty Leadership Development Seminar will open in early August. This year’s program will take place at the InterContinental Buckhead, Dec. 5-7, 2023. The curriculum is highly focused on gaining leadership knowledge and skills that will enable you to better prepare for advancement and promotion. As such, applicants must actively be seeking leadership opportunities to advance to the next stage of their career, including full professorship or other advanced leadership positions, as the curriculum focuses on the skills necessary for career advancement within academic medicine and science.

Due to high demand for this program and limited capacity, we want to make certain you are aware of important changes to the application process, as outlined below, that will take effect when applications open.

Application Period
The application period will close exactly three weeks from the opening date. Once closed, the AAMC will review applications to ensure all applicants meet the criteria for the target audience and the cohort consists of participants with a broad array of specialties and areas of focus in academic medicine, including both clinicians and basic science researchers who represent a variety of institutions from all regions of the country. We encourage you to sign up to be notified when the application period opens if you haven’t already.

Application Criteria and Requirements
In addition to completing the application questions, applicants will be required to upload a current curriculum vitae. A letter of support is not required as part of the application process. As stated above, due to high demand, we are unable to accept registrants outside of the program’s target audience - women physicians and scientists with an appointment at an AAMC member school of medicine, with a minimum of two years of experience (Dec. 2021) as an Associate Professor. Applicants must currently be in the process of seeking promotion and advancement opportunities. Applicants should also have demonstrated leadership ability that may include formal administrative, organizational (local or national), or other types of informal leadership roles.

As with previous application cycles, more than one applicant from an institution may apply; however, per the criteria described above, we will continue to only accept a small number of applicants from each institution.
