AAMC Advancing Holistic Principles Advisory Committee (AHPAC)
The AAMC Advancing Holistic Principles Advisory Committee (AHPAC) seeks committee members for a three-year term of service. As a member of the committee, you will serve on one or more committee-initiated working groups dedicated to the advancement of holistic principles and practices across all academic medicine mission areas. These working groups create scholarship, tools and resources needed to support the creation of learner-centered, equity-driven, and asset-focused policies and practices in medical schools and teaching hospitals. Susan Cato named AAMC chief communications and marketing officer 
The AAMC has named Susan Cato as its next chief communications and marketing officer (CCMO). She joined the AAMC as senior director of digital communications in 2020 and has served as acting chief communications and marketing officer since 2022. As CCMO, Cato will work in collaboration with the AAMC Leadership Team and the Board of Directors to lead the development, oversight, and implementation of a comprehensive communications and marketing program to support the AAMC’s strategic priorities, brand recognition, policy priorities, reputation, crisis communications, digital experience, and marketing campaigns.

2023 AAMC PREview™ Professional Readiness Exam registration opening
Registration for the 2023 AAMC PREview™ exam testing year opened Tuesday, Jan. 17 for all examinees. The testing year has been extended and will begin in March, with the first score release in April. The AAMC PREview exam is an important addition to the medical admissions process, and when combined with other parts of the medical school application (experiences, personal essays, academic records, MCAT score, and interviews), it provides schools with a more complete view of the whole applicant. New This Year: All American Medical College Application Service® (AMCAS®) participating medical schools are invited to use the PREview exam in their admissions process. Information about PREview participating MD-granting schools will be available in the AMCAS application.

Deadline extended: Appy now for national award on climate solutions
Do you know a medical student, resident, or fellow with a passion for sustainability and climate action? The AAMC has collaborated with Health Care Without Harm to offer the Emerging Physician Leader Award and Scholarship, which recognizes medical students, residents, or fellows who have demonstrated a passion for sustainable, climate-smart health care or a commitment to working on climate solutions to protect health. Award recipients will receive a scholarship to attend CleanMed 2023 and a $1,000 grant to support a project that supports physician and medical student action to reduce the environmental impact of health delivery and promote climate-smart health care through mitigation, resilience, and leadership. The application deadline has been extended to Jan. 31 at 2:59 a.m. ET.

AAMC webinar: Telehealth regulatory, legal, and legislative round-up
The AAMC will host a free webinar on Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. ET to discuss the latest regulatory and legislative developments in telehealth. This session will include an overview of the telehealth regulatory framework, including which regulations changed during the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) and which will remain in the long-term after the PHE ends. It will also include key considerations when reviewing telehealth arrangements, including reimbursement, professional board requirements/licensure/scope of practice, fraud and abuse considerations, corporate practice of medicine and privacy. Advanced registration is required.

AAMC webinar: Hiring, supporting, and incentivizing department chiefs in today’s dynamic environment
The AAMC will host a free webinar on Feb. 15 at 2:30 p.m. ET focused on what organizations should be looking for in department leaders and chairs, and what skills leaders need to acquire to be successful. This webinar will outline the critical skills and attributes essential for a successful department chief or chair and will invite discussion regarding meeting the challenge of filling these important positions. Participants will also hear specific, actionable ways to recruit, incentivize, and support department leaders. Advanced registration is required.

Jan. 27 nomination deadline for several 2023 AAMC Awards
The AAMC annually recognizes and celebrates members of the academic medicine community who make significant advances in medical education, patient care, research, community engagement, and diversity in health care. There is still time to submit nominations for the AAMC Award for Excellence in Medical Education, the Award for Distinguished Research in the Biomedical Sciences, the Louis W. Sullivan, MD, Award, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation David E. Rogers Award, as the deadline for these awards is Jan. 27 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Register now for IPEC Faculty Development Institute
The Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC), of which the AAMC is a member, will host a virtual faculty development institute on May 23-25. The program will be focused on interprofessional education for collaborative practice (IPECP). Participants will engage with national leaders in acquiring the building blocks for IPECP; spend significant time planning, building, designing, assessing, and communicating their IPECP goals and projects; and return to their home institutions with a new or improved programmatic action plan for IPECP. The early bird discount ends Jan. 31.
