Kudos to Dr. Megan Romano for her role in creating PFAS Guidance for NH Clinicians

Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of synthetic chemicals used in a wide variety of consumer products and industrial applications. They are increasingly common drinking water contaminants and have been linked to a range of health issues. Dr. Megan Romano, Associate Professor of Epidemiology, worked with Laurie Rardin, the Environmental Health Coordinator within the NH Division of Public Health Services at the Department of Health and Human Services, and a stakeholder advisory team, to create guidance for NH Clinicians to help them address patient concerns about PFAS. Dr. Romano previously studied the influence of PFAS on maternal and child health in the New Hampshire Birth Cohort Study as a COBRE Project Leader and continues to engage in translational research projects with PFAS-contaminated communities in NH.
