Kavita was born in the Himalayan city of Ranikhet, Uttarakhand, India. She moved to Dartmouth from Lucknow, India, where she earned her PhD in biological sciences in the Division of Toxicology and Experimental Medicine from the Central Drug Research Institute. Kavita’s research focuses on the role of natural antibodies (NAbs) in tumorigenesis as well as licensing of antigen presenting cells (APCs). Dr. Rawat is leading a project which aims to further clarify the role of the immune system and NAbs in the development of lung malignancies in the early stages of the cancer immunoediting. Dr. Rawat is also interested in monocyte migration and antigen trafficking in both healthy and inflamed lung. Finally, Dr. Rawat is interested in how neoantigens are recognized by the immune system and how the presence of neoantigens licenses APCs. Dr. Rawat has authored publications, perspectives, and invited reviews in the Jakubzick lab in several high-impact and society peer-reviewed journals. Outside of research, Kavita enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, dancing, chess, and enjoying the beautiful spring and summer weather of the Upper Valley.
