About

Dr. Nena Lundgreen Mason operates an innovative medical education research program which drives projects primarily related to ultrasound training pedagogy. Specifically, the program centers around the development of creative ways to utilize formalin embalmed cadavers to provide training in ultrasound-guided clinical procedures. Notable lab projects have included initiatives like the development and testing of training protocols designed to teach medical students to perform ultrasound guided knee arthrocentesis and central venous access on formalin embalmed cadavers. Dr. Mason’s research program also extends to exploring new applications for ultrasound technology and investigating the ways that ultrasound affects patient care in different clinical settings.
