QBS MD-PhD Student

Mentored by Diane Gilbert Diamond

I first discovered my passion for research through science fairs, where my projects on hand hygiene interventions brought me to competitions including the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in 2019 from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota with a major in chemistry and concentrations in biomolecular science and statistics. Throughout my years at St. Olaf, I conducted laboratory research on lipid droplet proteins involved in alcoholic fatty liver disease. Since joining the MD-PhD Program in 2019, I have found it very rewarding that this program allows me to integrate my interests in medicine with my passion for quantitatively driven research. At Dartmouth, my PhD thesis mentor is Dr. Diane Gilbert-Diamond. Broadly, I use genomic and clinical data to address questions about causes of and interventions for obesity. After growing up in Duluth, Minnesota, I appreciate the many outdoor activities and the comparatively mild winters New Hampshire has to offer. Outside of my research and studies, I enjoy working on DIY projects, hiking, cross country skiing, and honing my barbecue skills.
