Janet is a biostatistician whose main research interests are in the use and extensions of statistical methods in epidemiological studies, and the communication of biostatistics to non-statisticians. Her major clinical research interests are in maternal and child health. She is Co-investigator and Director of Data Science for the New Hampshire Birth Cohort Study in the NIH program grant ‘Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes’ (ECHO) Cycle 2 Consortium.
Her main methodological interest is in making study outcomes clinically meaningful and accessible to non-statisticians. She has authored three statistics books for researchers including the Oxford Handbook of Medical Statistics, jointly authored with a physician (3rd edition in progress), Presenting Medical Statistics, in collaboration with University of Miami and QMUL London, and Statistical Questions in Evidence-based Medicine with UK Professor, Dr Martin Bland.
She recently took up a fractional position at Aarhus University Denmark that was established to catalyze collaborative work using the Danish Health Registries between the Department of Epidemiology at Dartmouth and the Department of Clinical Epidemiology at Aarhus via Dr Henrik Toft Sorensen (Adjunct Professor at Dartmouth and head of department at Aarhus).
