Dr. Pomares-Millan earned his PhD from Lund University (Sweden) in Genetic and Molecular epidemiology. His research interests lie in the intersection of cardiometabolic conditions, cancer and machine learning. His thesis entitled ‘Optimizing exposome-wide assessments in cardiometabolic risk’ focused on the evaluation of biomarkers and risk factors to characterize disease heterogeneity and predict cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Dr. Hugo has a background in medical and regulatory affairs in the Mexican agency with over 5 years experience regulating the industry. For his postdoctoral research, he is working with Dr. Michael Passarelli to investigate the role of oxysterols in cancer etiology and integrate genetic and environmental components to improve our understanding of cancer incidence.
