The Office of Pre-Clerkship Medical Education at Geisel School of Medicine invites you to a faculty development session on the practical uses of generative AI in medical education by Thomas Thesen, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Medical Education and Roshini Pinto-Powell, M.D. Professor of Medical Education at Geisel. The hands-on session aims to engage participants with practical AI tools for teaching in medicine.

During this in-person session, participants will be guided to adapt AI tools developed at Geisel to their own teaching, including creation of clinical vignettes, flashcards, clinical cases, a virtual teaching assistant, and the use of the AI Patient Actor. At the end of the session, participants will be able to create their own content with the support of in-house AI tools in a time-efficient manner for deployment in their teaching sessions and courses.
Learning objectives
1. Describe the potential impact and limitations of generative AI applications on medical education.
2. Apply, evaluate, and customize the functionalities of generative AI tools developed at Geisel, such as Anki Creator, NeuroBot TA, AI Vignette Creator, and AI Patient Actor to facilitate the development of medical student core competencies.
3. Formulate strategies to incorporate AI applications into your own teaching to reduce educator workload while enhancing student learning experiences and outcomes.
