- Rarely a tumor can be painful, more commonly pain is due to fibrocystic changes, cysts or hormonal.
- Diffuse, bilateral or regional breast pain should have routine screening mammography only
- Focal pain ('can you point to it with a finger?') should have mammography plus ultrasound.
