John Stallings

John recently completed his M.A. in Psychology at Stony Brook University and is a research volunteer in the Jacobson Lab. He is interested in the intersection of artificial intelligence, clinical psychology, and digital mental health, with a particular focus on how large language models influence confidence, self-assessment, and decision-making under uncertainty. At Stony Brook's Cognition, Language, Interaction, and Computation (CLIC) Lab with Dr. Cameron Jones, John's research examined how AI-generated feedback affects user confidence and perceived performance across ambiguous tasks. He is especially interested in using behavioral data, language analysis, and human-AI interaction methods to develop more personalized, scalable, and clinically useful digital mental health tools. Prior to his graduate work, John spent nearly a decade at McKinsey & Company, where he worked on analytics, AI-enabled decision support, and technology strategy for enterprise clients. He received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Notre Dame.
