Gemini offers generous usage limits and strong multimodal capabilities - analyze images, review documents, and work across file types in a single conversation. Excellent for deep, up-to-date research on the web and is a flexible option for everyday writing or data tasks.

A collaboration between Research Computing and Dartmouth's Libraries. Available to all users with a Dartmouth netID and allows access to frontier models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and locally-hosted open-source options. Access is credit-based - you get a daily allowance that works across all models, with more powerful models costing more per use.

Using AI in Research
- IRB Considerations: If your research involves AI in data collection, analysis, or participant interaction, consult with Dartmouth CPHS early. When in doubt, ask before you proceed.
- Grants & Funding: NIH, NSF, and other funders have issued guidance on AI use in funded research. Check your program announcement and your funder's current AI policy before using AI tools in grant-related work.
- Manuscripts & Publications: Most major journals require disclosure of AI tool use in manuscript preparation. Check your target journal's author guidelines. When in doubt, disclose.
