It took 36 long hours of traveling—including a 12-hour layover in Amsterdam and a six-hour stay in Nairobi—but I arrived in Dar es Salaam in one piece (albeit an unkempt piece). . . .

While I have always been drawn to pediatrics, as a undergrad I began to explore my interest in global health. When I learned that Geisel offered students the opportunity to become involved in global health, I was excited to take advantage of the array of experiences. Once on campus, I immediately began exploring options for a project to occupy what the second-year students have told me will be my “last summer vacation ever.” The DarDar Pediatric Program in Dar es Salaam instantly stood out.
