Membership

The Academy supports a community of health professions educators, fostering growth through collaboration, mentorship, and educational scholarship through a tiered membership structure designed to engage educators at various career stages. Membership types include Members, Associates, Fellows, Distinguished Educators, and Advisory Board Members.

Participation ranges from novice educators, like residents and students, to senior-level educators. Members contribute to the academy by attending events, mentoring, and leading initiatives, while benefiting from mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities across the Geisel and Dartmouth Health community.

  • There are two approaches to applying for the "Member" or "Associate Member" levels:
    • Individuals log 4 activities, using this form, and then can apply to become a member by emailing their name, title, and chair/supervisor contact info to Geisel.Academy@dartmouth.edu attesting that they logged their activities and noting they would like to be a member.
    • Alternatively, if an individual registers and logs their attendance to the required number of activities through the CMECloud system, then the Academy will email you proactively to invite you as a “Member” requesting the above information.
    • The following activities count towards membership: Live in-person or virtual activitiesenduring material (recordings of past events)and activities sponsored or co-sponsored by the Academy.
  • “Fellow” level membership is achieved by invitation to participate as a teacher in an Academy sponsored or co-sponsored activity. Associates will be prioritized in receiving invitations to teach at the “Fellow” level of membership, but the Academy Co-Directors and Advisory Board may invite teachers outside of the Academy community to the “Fellow” level based on demonstrated expertise in teaching teachers.
  • See below for details on requirements and how to self-nominate for the “Distinguished Educator” level of membership.
  • The “Advisory Board” level of membership is by invitation only by the Co-Directors of the Academy. The intent is to include as diverse and broad a representation as possible from across the Geisel and Dartmouth Health system. Preference is given to individuals already achieving the “Distinguished Educator” levels of membership.
