Unlike cancers that develop inside the body, skin cancers form on the outside and are usually visible. That\u2019s why skin exams, both at home and with a dermatologist, are especially vital.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif\"><strong>Early detection saves lives<\/strong>. Learning\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/skincancer.org\/early-detection\/self-exams\/\">what to look for<\/a>\u00a0on your own skin gives you the power to detect cancer early when it\u2019s easiest to cure, before it can become dangerous, disfiguring or deadly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif\">A thorough self-exam requires the following simple supplies: a bright light, a full-length mirror, a hand mirror, two chairs or stools and a blow-dryer.
