🌍 New Geisel Enrichment Course Explores the Intersection of Climate & Health

As the realities of climate change increasingly impact patient care and healthcare systems worldwide, the Geisel School of Medicine is proud to offer a timely and innovative enrichment course this fall: "Climate & Health – Research, Action, and Impact."

Led by an interdisciplinary team of faculty sponsors β€” Dr. Katie Lichter (Radiation Oncology), Dr. Sarah Crockett (Emergency Medicine), and Dr. Robert K. McLellan (Occupational & Environmental Medicine) β€” this 6-week course aims to prepare future healthcare professionals to understand and respond to the health consequences of our changing environment.

Course Highlights

  • Dates: October 7 – November 18, 2025

  • Time: Tuesdays, 4:30–5:30/5:45 PM

  • Format: Hybrid (Zoom + In-person at DHMC – location TBD)

  • Eligibility: Open to Geisel M1s/M2s, MPH students, graduate students from Thayer, TDI, and other Dartmouth programs

Each week will explore a unique topic β€” from disaster response and environmental exposures to sustainable healthcare systems and climate equity. The course will wrap up with an outdoor community reflection session, fostering cross-campus collaboration and personal engagement with the material.

  • Learn how healthcare contributes to environmental degradation β€” and how to address it

  • Explore real-world case studies in sustainable design, systems thinking, and advocacy
