Grantee Project in Academic Psychiatry

With a 2018 President’s grant, Dr. Anne Hallward and team at Safe Space Radio created a series of educational narrative podcasts to foster empathy and reduce stigma among third-year medical students. They then conducted a year of research with the cohort of medical students that participated in the third year psychiatry clerkship at Maine Medical Center. Their findings emphasize the importance of empathy and compassion in doctor-patient relationships, and the need for both to be vital parts of medical training.
