NH-INBRE funds research at 8 <\/span><a href=\"\/nhinbre\/program-partners\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">New Hampshire Colleges<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. They get extensive experience working in laboratories and learning about scientific research.They also <\/span><b>present their work at conferences and some<\/b> <b>students even become authors of peer-reviewed scientific research papers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Both strong lab skills and peer-reviewed papers can be a great benefit to students both in their careers as well as in further academic work after college<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Career Planning<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: In addition to skill development and money, students have the opportunity to <\/span><a href=\"\/nhinbre\/mentoring-with-nh-inbre-alumni\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">work with mentors<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> who are alumni of the NH-INBRE program.\u00a0 Mentors help students think through what they want to do after college and help them develop a plan to pursue their career goals. Alumni help students improve their resumes, learn to network effectively, prepare for interviews, etc. See <\/span><a href=\"\/nhinbre\/student-career-planning\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Career planning and professional development<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for further information<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How do I find out about NH-INBRE research projects?<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You can find a list of current research projects and the principal investigators (PIs) who run them <\/span><a href=\"\/nhinbre\/research-projects\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What qualifications are required to be chosen to work on an NH-INBRE project?<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There are none! All that is needed is enthusiasm to learn and having dedicated time to your project, lab\/PI each week\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How do I apply to be chosen to work on a project?<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To apply to participate in a funded summer research program, or research throughout the year, reach out to PI\u2019s at your school to see if they have openings or projects that you could assist them with<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If I am chosen, what kind of work can I expect to do? How much am I paid?<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Your work will differ depending on the project, PI, and school.
