{"id":6908,"date":"2016-05-26T10:41:27","date_gmt":"2016-05-26T14:41:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/news\/?p=6908"},"modified":"2016-06-21T17:39:12","modified_gmt":"2016-06-21T21:39:12","slug":"geisel-inducts-seven-into-academy-of-master-educators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/news\/2016\/geisel-inducts-seven-into-academy-of-master-educators\/","title":{"rendered":"Geisel Inducts Seven into Academy of Master Educators"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After the annual State of the Medical School address on Monday, May 23, Interim Dean Duane Compton welcomed seven faculty members to the <a href=\"http:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/afme\/\" target=\"_blank\">Geisel Academy of Master Educators<\/a> (GAME).<\/p>\n<p>The Geisel Academy of Master Educators are a\u00a0distinguished group of faculty nominated by their colleagues\u00a0here at Geisel.\u00a0The awardees possess a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and medical education. Academy\u00a0members are leaders in medical education and innovation at Geisel and raise the overall quality of education by furthering the passion for excellence in teaching and learning and in mentoring faculty and residents on their journey to becoming great teachers.<\/p>\n<p>\"Every year I am impressed with the quality of the educators inducted into the Academy of Master Educators and this year is no exception,\" said Compton. \"They have been recognized by their fellow faculty members for their excellence as teachers and mentors, as well as\u00a0their passion for medical education.\"<\/p>\n<p>Students, medical residents, and fellow faculty shared personal stories about the influence and mentorship of each Master Educator they introduced.<\/p>\n<p>The 2016 Academy of Master Educators inductees are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mary Margaret Andrews, MD,<\/strong> Associate Professor of Medicine<\/li>\n<li><strong>Maureen Boardman, MSN<\/strong>, Clinical Assistant Professor of Community and Family Medicine<\/li>\n<li><strong>Julia Frew, MD<\/strong>, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry<\/li>\n<li><strong>Alison Holmes, MD, MPH, MSc<\/strong>, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Community and Family Medicine, and of The Dartmouth Institute<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chris La Rocca, MD<\/strong>, Clinical Assistant Professor of Community and Family Medicine<\/li>\n<li><strong>David Mullins, PhD<\/strong>, Assistant Professor of Microbiology and Immunology and of Medical Education<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hilary Ryder, MD<\/strong>, Assistant Professor of Medicine and of The Dartmouth Institute<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cIt is a great honor to be recognized in this manner by Geisel,\u201d said Holmes. \u201cThe education of those in training as pre-medical and medical students, residents and fellows is an integral part of the profession for physicians.
