Emond, PhD, MS, assistant dean for health science programs at Geisel. \u201cOur new online program will enable working professionals the opportunity to gain rigorous training within this high-demand field, while balancing other life demands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The program\u2019s fully online format will feature 15 courses taken sequentially (one course at a time) over 21 months\u2014offering students consistent and predictable scheduling. \u201cWe\u2019re targeting between 25 and 30 students in the first year, and we want to ramp up to 50 students per cohort, and that will include international enrollment,\u201d says Emond.<\/p>\n<p>The MS in Health Data Science will be Dartmouth College\u2019s third fully online master\u2019s degree offering, following the launch of the Thayer School of Engineering\u2019s online program earlier this year and Geisel\u2019s recently announced MS in Implementation Science degree program, which will go live next fall.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/MSHDS_web3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-21960\" src=\"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/MSHDS_web3-540x360.jpg\" alt=\"Woman studying on computer\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/MSHDS_web3-540x360.jpg 540w, https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/MSHDS_web3-195x130.jpg 195w, https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/MSHDS_web3-82x55.jpg 82w, https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/MSHDS_web3-580x387.jpg 580w, https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/10\/MSHDS_web3.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe growth of these programs reflects Dartmouth\u2019s commitment to develop online learning opportunities that build off the strength of our existing hybrid and residential graduate programs and help to ensure that students are receiving the Dartmouth experience regardless of where their learning takes place,\u201d says Erin DeSilva, associate provost for digital and online learning at Dartmouth College.<\/p>\n<p>The program\u2019s distinctive curriculum is adapted from Geisel\u2019s existing 12-month residential MS in Health Data Science degree program. Designed with experts in pedagogy to maximize student learning in the online format, it will be led by Dartmouth faculty committed not only to advancing innovative methods and findings in health data science, but further committed to teaching excellence.<\/p>\n<p>Students will receive training on the theory and application of foundational data science topics\u2014including programming, visualization, biostatistics, epidemiology, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
