Photo by Jesse Hornbuckle Photography, Dallas, Texas<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\"I am delighted to welcome Dr. McBride as the new Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion,\u201d says Dean Compton.\u00a0\u201cShe brings a depth of experience to our school, and I am excited to begin working with her to support our student programs.\"<\/p>\n<p>McBride comes to Dartmouth from Texas Christian University (TCU) School of Medicine, where she served as the associate dean for diversity and inclusion and professor of medical education. During her tenure at TCU, McBride developed various signature programs in an effort to achieve <em>Inclusive Excellence<\/em>, including the Diversity and Inclusion Mentoring Network program, Med Safe Zone training, the <em>Black Men in White Coats<\/em> initiative, a Surgeons General Roundtable series, the <em>Out for Health<\/em> student conference, a Latina STEM+M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics plus Medicine) and Biomedical Opportunities Summer Pipeline program, and a longitudinal Health Equity curriculum track.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining TCU, she held similar diversity leadership positions for Salem State University (MA), Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, California University of Pennsylvania, and faculty positions within the Florida College System.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am thrilled beyond words to come to Geisel at such a time as this,\u201d says McBride. \u201cDean Compton\u2019s commitment to guiding Geisel\u2019s culture toward inclusive excellence and belonging is truly monumental.\u00a0He clearly recognizes that as a model, Inclusive Excellence assimilates diversity efforts into the core of institutional functioning to realize the educational benefits of diversity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am honored to step into the ADDEI role and to help build on the efforts already underway at Geisel and look forward to synthesizing and integrating such efforts into a visible, innovative strategy for enhancing diversity, equity, access inclusion, and belonging across the campus. This\u00a0work\u00a0extends to all aspects of life, teaching,\u00a0and living communities\u00a0of Dartmouth College. While we have work to do, I strongly believe together we can develop a national model of inclusive excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In her new role at Geisel, McBride will lead the medical school\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/dice\/\">Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement<\/a>, working closely with Geisel\u2019s senior leadership and Dartmouth\u2019s senior vice president and senior diversity officer, as well as the leadership of Dartmouth Health, the White River Junction Veteran Affairs Medical Center, and Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies, to build a diverse and inclusive community of\u00a0learners. She will play a key role in developing and implementing new diversity and inclusivity initiatives in support of Geisel\u2019s forthcoming strategic plan.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1797, the\u00a0<strong>Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth\u00a0<\/strong>strives to improve the lives of the communities it serves through excellence in learning, discovery, and healing.
