This comprehensive process, involving all missions of the school, will engage the Geisel community in developing a plan to guide our future investments for growth, determining the direction of the school for many years to come.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank everyone who participated in the Strategic Planning retreat last week,\u201d said Duane Compton, PhD, dean of the Geisel School of Medicine. \u201cThe goal of this process is to put Geisel on a path to being a stronger organization with an even greater impact. Many of the goals articulated in that plan have been accomplished, and now that we have built a strong financial foundation, it is time to cast our view forward with a plan for building on areas of excellence and identifying areas of growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Assisting Geisel in this strategic planning effort is ECG Management Consultants, a national healthcare management consulting firm with a division that specializes in academic healthcare. ECG has direct experience facilitating strategic planning processes for medical schools.<\/p>\n<p>During the retreat, ECG led participants in a series of exercises designed to identify key external factors and provide input and feedback on the vision for Geisel\u2019s future. The feedback from the retreat will be compiled and shared with the <a href=\"https:\/\/dartmouth.sharepoint.com\/sites\/GeiselStrategicPlanning\/SitePages\/Committees.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Strategic Planning Executive Steering Committee<\/a>, a group of faculty, staff, and students that will identify areas of inquiry, analyze work group outputs, and ultimately recommend strategies to the project sponsors (Geisel Dean\u2019s Office).<\/p>\n<p>A website has been created to allow our community to engage with and learn more about the Strategic Planning Process, including providing feedback and submitting questions.
