Chertoff, MD, MS, MHCDS, professor and chair of radiology at Geisel School of Medicine and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health, and professor of radiology and obstetrics at Geisel, has been named the 2019 Outstanding Educator of the Year by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). Chertoff, MD, MS, MHCDS (photo by Mark Washburn)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Given to one physician annually, the award recognizes those who have demonstrated a long-term commitment to the field of radiology, are pioneers in their specialty, and have made significant contributions to radiologic education during the past 15 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel very fortunate to be part of a community that prioritizes the things I value\u2014patient care, quality, and innovation\u2014and recognizes that the essential foundation is education,\u201d says Chertoff who is also vice president of the Regional Radiology Service Line at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.<\/p>\n<p>A dedicated educator and advocate for advancing radiology, Chertoff has led educational programs for residents, faculty development, and initiatives addressing issues for women physicians. Widely recognized for her leadership, she was a 2003-2004 fellow of the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine program, a highly competitive fellowship dedicated to helping women in medicine, dentistry, public health, and pharmacy develop personal and professional leadership and management skills.<\/p>\n<p>\"I'm very pleased that Dr. Chertoff's dedication to our core mission of education has been recognized by this award from the RSNA,\u201d says Geisel School of Medicine Dean Duane Compton, PhD. \u201cThis demonstrates that her professional peers hold her in very high esteem.\"<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe at Dartmouth-Hitchcock are fortunate to have Jocelyn as a colleague,\u201d said Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health CEO and President Joanne M. Conroy MD. \u201cHer excellence in clinical care as well as her devotion to educating and training the next generation of physicians is at the core of what we do as an academic health system. This award from RSNA is very well deserved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She is a past chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges\u2019 Group on Women in Medicine and Science and a past president of the Association of Program Directors in Radiology (APDR), Alliance of Clinician Educators in Radiology (ACER), the Association of University Radiologists (AUR), and the New Hampshire Radiological Society.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012, she received the ACER Achievement Award and served as an oral board examiner for the ABR for nine years\u2014in 2013 she received its Distinguished Service Award.\u00a0In 2017 she received both the APDR Achievement Award and an AUR gold medal.<\/p>\n<p>Chertoff is a member of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Board of Governors and Board of Trustees.<\/p>\n<p>RSNA is a non-profit organization with more than 54,000 worldwide members and publishes two top peer-reviewed journals: <em>Radiology<\/em> and <em>RadioGraphics<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jocelyn D.
