\n<\/iframe><\/span><\/body><\/html><\/p>\n\u201cThe art of communicating deeply with the patient is the fundamental of a good physician,\u201d says Roshini Pinto-Powell, MD, associate dean for student affairs. But while the doctor-patient relationship remains at the heart of medicine, physicians today must also work effectively within interprofessional teams, manage the health of diverse populations, and continuously improve the systems in which they work. That ethos is reflected in every class of students at Geisel and in the MD curriculum.<\/p>\nYear after year, residency directors nationwide remark on Geisel graduates\u2019 clinical preparedness, their understanding of healthcare delivery, their readiness to engage in quality improvement initiatives, and their ability to think holistically about their patients.<\/p>\n\u201cWe have tailored our curriculum in a way that ensures our students graduate with the ability to think deeply and critically about individual patients and about systems of care,\u201d says Pinto-Powell. \u201cIt\u2019s gratifying to see them go on to practice and teach in the way they were taught, influencing their colleagues and patients. The impact is exponential.\u201d<\/p>\nThrough the Interaction\u00a0<\/em>campaign, launched in 2018, Geisel aims to attract $45 million in philanthropic gifts to student scholarships and programming that supports educating the complete physician.
