Director of Dartmouth Cancer Center Elected to Association of American Cancer Institutes Board

Steven D. Leach, MD, a surgical oncologist, and pancreatic cancer researcher who serves as director of the Dartmouth Cancer Center, is among the newly elected board members of the Association of American Cancer Institutes (AACI). Leach's term began during AACI's annual meeting earlier this month.

Since 2017, Leach has served as director of the Dartmouth Cancer Center, one of the nation's premier facilities for cancer treatment and research. He is also professor of molecular and systems biology, surgery, and medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, where he also holds the Preston T. and Virginia R. Kelsey Distinguished Chair in Cancer and serves as Associate Dean for Cancer Programs.

Within AACI, Leach has been a member of the program committee and served as AACI program committee chair in 2020.

Prior to joining Dartmouth Cancer Center, Leach held the David M. Rubenstein Chair and was the inaugural director of the Rubenstein Center for Pancreatic Research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Among his many scientific contributions and professional honors, Leach was named a Fellow of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science in 2018. Leach has also served as chair of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s Scientific and Medical Advisory Board and as a member of the Princeton University Board of Trustees.
