Dartmouth-Hitchcock pediatrician David C. Goodman MD named to Council on Graduate Medical Education

David C. Goodman, MD

Lebanon, N.H.—David C. Goodman, MD, a specialist in pediatric allergy, has been appointed to the Council on Graduate Medical Education (COGME).

Based in Rockville, MD, COGME provides an ongoing assessment of physician workforce trends, training issues and financing policies, and recommends appropriate federal and private sector efforts on these issues. COGME advises and makes recommendations to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, and the House of Representatives Committee on Commerce.

Dr. Goodman, a member of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock staff since 1988, is a professor of pediatrics and of health policy at Dartmouth Medical School. He is also director of the Center for Health Policy Research at the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice (TDI).

"I am honored to be appointed to COGME," said Dr. Goodman. "This has been a long term goal for me, and I am committed to doing my very best to represent the interests of children and adults in the development of workforce policy recommendations."

Dr. Goodman's research interests include understanding the relationship between regional and health system's physician capacity and health outcomes. He is also interested in variation in chronic illness treatment and in end of life cancer care. Dr. Goodman is the Co-Principal Investigator of the Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care.
