Class Day Honors DMS '08 Graduates

Congratulaitons, Graduates!

Hanover, N.H.—Dartmouth Medical School celebrated the accomplishments of 168 budding physicians, biomedical scientists and public health specialists in Class Day ceremonies, June 7.

After leading the faculty and guests in procession, DMS Dean William R. Green welcomed graduates, families and friends. He introduced the keynote speaker, International public health expert and UNICEF advisor Dr. Stephen Atwood who discussed "Transforming the Social Agenda: the Role of the New Health Professional."

Student speakers were MD candidate Andrew C. Saunders, and microbiology and immunology PhD candidate Micah J. Benson.

The graduates received their degrees in medicine, the life sciences, public health and health policy at Dartmouth College's 2008 commencement exercises.

The newly minted physicians will continue their training at teaching hospitals around the country. Two participants in the US Army's Health Professions Scholarship Program—Christopher Phillips Jordan II and Nathan Paul Zwintscher—were promoted in a prior ceremony to the rank of captain in the Army Medical Corps and will start internships at Army medical centers. Graduating master's and doctoral students will embark on the next stage of careers in academia, and the public or private sectors.

More information about the degrees, award winners and speeches is available on the 2008 Class Day Page.
