{"id":1627,"date":"2026-03-04T15:43:42","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T20:43:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/msb\/?page_id=1627"},"modified":"2026-03-04T15:43:42","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T20:43:42","slug":"msb-travel-awards","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/msb\/msb-travel-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"MSB Travel Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Molecular and Systems Biology (MSB) offers travel awards for trainees of MSB primary faculty members to support participation in national and international conferences or courses.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"travel-button\" href=\"mailto:Molecular.and.Systems.Biology@dartmouth.edu?subject=MSB%20Travel%20Award%20Application\">Apply by email<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Quick Facts<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Maximum award:<\/strong> Up to <strong>$1,200<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Number of awards:<\/strong> 5 awards this fiscal year<\/li>\n<li><strong>Limit per lab:<\/strong> Up to 2 awards per lab per year<\/li>\n<li><strong>Submission:<\/strong> <a href=\"mailto:Molecular.and.Systems.Biology@dartmouth.edu\">Molecular.and.Systems.Biology@dartmouth.edu<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Timing:<\/strong> Travel must begin before June 30 of the current fiscal year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>Applicants must meet <strong>all<\/strong> of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Senior graduate student (<abbr title=\"post-qualifying exam\">post-qual<\/abbr>) or postdoctoral fellow in an MSB lab (includes trainees across MCB, IND, and QBS programs)<\/li>\n<li>Attending a national or international conference or course<\/li>\n<li>Presenting their own work or an accepted course participant<\/li>\n<li>Travel commencing prior to June 30 of the current fiscal year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Award Details<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The award will cover up to $1,200 to be used toward registration, lodging, airfare, ground transportation, meals, or a combination thereof.<\/li>\n<li>Expenses exceeding this amount must be covered by the student\u2019s PI or other sources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Required Application Materials<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Nomination letter (less than one page)<\/li>\n<li>Applicant\u2019s CV<\/li>\n<li>Conference or course information<\/li>\n<li>Official abstract of the material to be presented (or course acceptance letter)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Selection Process<\/h2>\n<p>After the application is received, the Chair of MSB will evaluate the application with committee input as needed.
