Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Miller Lab

Cancer Research

We are seeking a talented Postdoctoral Fellow to join our thriving research program in the Miller Lab at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center and Department of Molecular & Systems Biology within the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Our work focuses on breast cancer, mechanisms of drug resistance, and the development of innovative therapeutic strategies. Studies span the spectrum of basic, translational, and clinical research, focused at the interface between the lab and the clinic to maximize the impact of our work on human health. The successful candidate will receive outstanding training and devoted mentoring customized to her/his career goals, and acquire research skills that will be invaluable in their future pursuit of academic, government, or industrial positions.

Potential research projects include: 1) identification of molecular mechanisms underlying sensitivity to estrogen therapy in breast cancer; 2) understanding differences in drug sensitivity between established breast tumors and dormant breast tumor cells to develop rational therapeutic strategies; 3) identifying tumor microenvironment-derived mechanisms of drug resistance in breast cancer; 4) identifying therapeutic strategies to target subtypes of triple-negative breast and ovarian cancers.

Applicants must have enthusiasm for research, a high level of self-motivation, outstanding organizational skills, and competence with molecular biology techniques (such as Western blotting, PCR, immunohistochemistry) and tissue culture. Experience with mouse models is a plus. Applicants should be willing to learn new techniques and skills, able to independently design and conduct experiments, and willing to think critically. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and a commitment to maintaining a positive and productive work environment. Major Duties:

  • Design and conduct experiments with guidance from the PI
  • Analyze and interpret data
  • Prepare and report experimental findings to the PI and lab meetings
  • Present research findings at national meetings
  • Write and submit manuscripts for publication
  • Write and submit fellowship applications as appropriate

Successful candidates must have one of the following: PhD in any of the biomedical sciences or other relevant discipline; MD or MD/PhD with research laboratory experience. Applicants should have 0-3 years of prior postdoctoral experience.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and is competitive for Postdoctoral Fellows. The position includes an excellent benefits package.
