Congratulations to the recent recipients of the Department Travel Award.

  • Dr. Hugo Pomares-Millan will be traveling to Rockefeller University in NYC, New York, where he will attend a highly competitive course in Advanced Gene Mapping. This course will advance his epidemiologic cancer research in the area of genome-wide gene-environment interaction study of whole-body arsenic exposure.
  • Dr. Ahlam Abuawad will be traveling to attend the Society for Epidemiologic Research (SER) and International Society of Environmental Epidemiology - North American Chapter (ISEE NAC) conferences in Oregon. This year's ISEE - NAC theme is “Environmental justice and climate connections.” This travel award will allow Ahlam the opportunity to network with environmental and epidemiologic researchers domestically and present her research in an atmosphere conducive to feedback and the development of rising young investigators in the field of environmental epidemiology
    • Ahlam has been accepted to co-chair a session about water at the ISEE NAC. Additionally, Ahlam has been awarded the ISEE NAC 2023 Travel Award to ensure her attendance, which will make a valuable contribution to the event. This was a competitive award process with 115 applicants and only 61 applicants receiving awards.
