{"id":687,"date":"2021-03-04T14:52:53","date_gmt":"2021-03-04T14:52:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/md-program\/?page_id=687"},"modified":"2025-06-11T17:23:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-11T17:23:09","slug":"population-health","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/md-program\/curriculum-overview\/population-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Population Health"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;color: #006900\"><strong>MDED 118<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Many enter medicine in order to make a difference\u2014and as physicians we\u2019re fortunate to be able to do that somewhat regularly, for the individuals we care for.\u00a0 But, positioned on the \u2018front lines\u2019, we as physicians are also uniquely able to experience firsthand when something is simply not working.\u00a0 That perspective, along with our training and a sense of responsibility for the health and well-being of others, means that we also can\u2014and ultimately are compelled to\u2014make a difference on a larger scale.\u00a0 Population Health (formerly Patients &amp; Populations) is about preparing future Geisel graduates to make a difference in the health of communities and populations and advance the effectiveness and value of healthcare.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The course aims, specifically, to develop capabilities ranging from the ability to make statistical sense of local data and published research to an understanding of the cultural, regulatory, and financial context in which medicine is practiced;
