{"id":29,"date":"2020-09-17T15:59:33","date_gmt":"2020-09-17T15:59:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/geiselmed2.dartmouth.edu\/ome\/?page_id=29"},"modified":"2025-08-04T17:32:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-04T17:32:11","slug":"medical-education-committee","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/md-program\/medical-education-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"Medical Education Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #00693e;font-size: 18pt\">Overview<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Medical Education Committee (MEC) ensures that the medical school curriculum develops and offers a curriculum to train future physicians who are highly knowledgeable; clinically skilled; professional and caring; excellent communicators; committed to lifelong learning and continuous assessment and improvement in all that they do; and skilled at practicing within a complex healthcare environment.<\/p>\n<p>MEC responsibilities include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>determining what is taught, learned, and assessed in all the major competency areas<\/li>\n<li>determining what students must achieve to qualify for graduation<\/li>\n<li>defining and revising the goals, objectives, structure and content of the undergraduate medical curriculum<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Medical Education Committee (MEC) meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month from 4:00-6:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about the MEC Schedule and MEC Subcommittees, please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/dartmouth.sharepoint.com\/sites\/MECMedicalEducationCommitteeMaterials\">MEC SharePoint<\/a><\/p>\n<p>At Geisel, all unsolicited new required curriculum proposals will be referred to the New Curriculum Proposal Committee (NCPC) for review. More information regarding this committee and process can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/md-program\/ncpc\/\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #00693e;font-size: 18pt\">Membership<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The voting members of the MEC consists of faculty elected by the Geisel Faculty Council, and students elected by the student body.
