{"id":19,"date":"2021-05-25T21:10:19","date_gmt":"2021-05-25T21:10:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/gsas\/?page_id=19"},"modified":"2023-08-29T14:59:19","modified_gmt":"2023-08-29T14:59:19","slug":"rights-and-responsibilities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/goaaa\/getting-started\/rights-and-responsibilities\/","title":{"rendered":"Rights and Responsibilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Student Rights:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Reasonable accommodation to ensure equal access to Geisel curriculum, programs and activities, and the programs and activities of Dartmouth College.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Self-determination regarding disclosure of disability in order to request and receive reasonable accommodations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Appropriate privacy regarding disability-related information.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Engagement of the alternative resolution and\/or formal grievance procedure to address accommodation discrimination.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Non-discrimination by Geisel School of Medicine and Dartmouth faculty, staff and students.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\">Student Responsibilities:<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">With or without reasonable accommodations, meet the qualifications for and fulfill Geisel\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/admin\/learnserv\/esmpg\/\">Essential Standards for Matriculation, Promotion, and Graduation<\/a> for courses, programs, and activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Self-identify as an individual with a disability and follow published procedures for engaging the interactive process to obtain reasonable accommodations, academic adjustments, assistive technology, auxiliary aids and services in a timely manner.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Provide necessary documentation to establish disability and the need for accommodation to participate in courses, programs, services, and activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Recognize that accommodations are not retroactive and academic performance prior to disclosing disability and engaging the interactive process may be upheld.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Request accommodations from faculty, staff, or administration in a timely manner.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">As part of the Dartmouth\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/student-affairs.dartmouth.edu\/policy\/academic-honor-principle\">Academic Honor Principle<\/a> and Geisel\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/students\/document\/student-policy-handbook\/student-conduct-and-responsibilities\/the-student-honor-code\/\">Student Honor Code,<\/a> accurately portray accommodation needs to disability resource personnel or other Geisel officials, as appropriate.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students&#8217; rights and responsibilities are a priority at the Geisel School of Medicine.
