In April, Aislinn Gilmour represented the Department of Epidemiology at the AAAS CASE Conference in Washington, D.C. (Catalyzing Advocacy in Science and Engineering). Aislinn is a first-year doctoral student in the Quantitative Biomedical Sciences program (QBS) at Geisel and the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies at Dartmouth.
Aislinn traveled along with three other Guarini students to attend the intensive workshop on Capitol Hill, which equips scientific researchers across various disciplines with advocacy tools to engage with federal policymakers. The QBS-track has provided Aislinn the opportunity to work across disciplines and she worked with the Department of Epidemiology this past year on research relating to the microbiome and cystic fibrosis outcomes, lung cancer screening guidelines, and parabens exposure and respiratory health outcomes.
