Elevated maternal glucose may alter circulating miRNAs during pregnancy

New findings from a team led by Elizabeth Anderson and Dr. Caitlin Howe identified a number of miRNAs in circulation during pregnancy that may be altered by elevated maternal glucose levels. These miRNAs are important for placental development, insulin signaling, and appetite regulation and could provide insights into mechanisms by which hyperglycemia during pregnancy adversely affects both maternal and child health.
