Lisa M. McBride, PhD (she\/her\/hers)<\/strong> <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Dr. McBride, a Ferguson, Missouri, native has an extensive career and is distinguished by her commitment to equity and justice, both in education and in the wider public arena. As the newly appointed Associate Dean for the DICE Office at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College, she is responsible for leveraging diversity, inclusion and belonging to drive the school\u2019s mission of excellence in medical education, delivery of care and scholarship.<\/p>\n She previously served as Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclusion at Texas Christian University (TCU) School of Medicine while maintaining her appointment as Professor of Medical Education. During her tenure at TCU, Dr. McBride developed various signature programs in an effort to achieve Inclusive Excellence<\/em>. These included the Diversity and Inclusion Mentoring Network program, Med Safe Zone training, \u201cBlack Men in White Coats\u201d initiative, the \u201cOut for Health\u201d student conference, a Latina STEM+M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics plus Medicine) and Biomedical Opportunities Summer Pipeline program, and a longitudinal Health Equity curriculum track. For such efforts, TCU School of Medicine was recognized as the 2020 and 2021 Health Professions HEED (Higher Education Excellence in Diversity) Awardee by INSIGHT Into Diversity\u2014<\/em> the\u00a0oldest and largest diversity\u00a0magazine and website in higher education. Additionally, she was awarded the 2022 Community Service award by the Greater Fort Worth area Negro Women Business and Professional Women\u2019s Club.<\/p>\n Dr. McBride began her career as a police officer in her hometown of Ferguson, Missouri. She then transitioned to a federal criminal investigator position for eight years where she worked in various countries as an undercover operative with the US Department of Justice.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jerome Wilcox was born and raised in Washington, DC and he is the Director of Inclusive Excellence. In his role, he works with Dr. Lisa McBride, Associate Dean for the DICE Office, and others across the institution to infuse diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts into all aspects of Geisel, ensuring that diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are essential to the mission and success of every area of the Geisel community.<\/p>\n With a passion for community engagement, Jerome served as an associate minister at the Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church in Washington, DC where he focused on community advocacy through faith-based partnerships with the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, and the George Washington Medical Faculty Associates. These partnerships gave way for bridging the gap between these organizations and underrepresented communities through health screenings, education, and lay person training in clinical presentations to achieve health equity by cultivating the next-generation of community-oriented health care providers to improve health care for all.<\/p>\n Jerome was named a 2022 Diversity Equity and Inclusion Champion by DiversityFIRST for his commitment and passion for creating inclusive spaces for all to feel seen and heard. With more than 10 years of experience in diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) work, Jerome is excited to join Geisel as the institution adopts a new strategy of leveraging diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to drive the school\u2019s mission of excellence in medical education, delivery of care and scholarship.<\/p>\n Jerome received his degree in Criminology from Gallaudet University\u2014the premier institution of learning, teaching and research for deaf and hard-of-hearing students and received his Diversity Leadership certification from University of South Florida Muma College of Business. He is a retired non-commissioned officer with the United States Air Force where he proudly served as a paralegal and court reporter for their Judge Advocate Generals Corp.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Vanessa loves bringing ideas to life, whether through planning events, mentoring students, or collaborating with others to create welcoming and memorable experiences. Vanessa earned a bachelor's degree in Sociology and a master\u2019s degree in leadership, with a focus on student development, from Truman State University.<\/p>\n With nearly a decade of experience in higher education, community engagement, and student development, she has built her career around cultivating connection, belonging, and stronger communities. Her professional journey has included roles in admissions, financial aid, event management, and enrollment at A.T. Still University, Drexel University College of Medicine, and the University of Pennsylvania, before returning to Truman State University, where she served as Executive Director of the Office of Community Enrichment.<\/p>\n Across these roles, she has led initiatives that support access, strategic planning, retention, community building, and inclusive engagement. She has advised hundreds of students, developed partnerships across diverse stakeholder groups, and designed programs, initiatives, and conversations that bring people together across differences while creating spaces and systems that foster belonging. As Executive Director, she led a team of professional staff and student employees while overseeing programs serving students, faculty, and staff, including underrepresented, international, and first-generation students.<\/p>\n Her leadership is grounded in a simple belief: strong communities are built through compassion, empathy, and a genuine effort to understand one another. She leads by building meaningful relationships, listening intentionally, and creating spaces where people feel valued and respected. Whether leading an organization, developing a program, or connecting with an individual, she is committed to fostering environments where people can thrive and communities can grow stronger together.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In her role as an Administrative Assistant, Ire (pronounced E-reh) <\/i>will support DICE programming and strategic priorities by developing accessible visual materials, organizing physical and digital spaces, and establishing efficient workflows for DICE systems.<\/p>\n Ire\u00a0brings a unique combination of expertise. She earned a\u00a0Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD)\u00a0and a\u00a0Bachelor of Arts in International and Public Affairs from Brown University. Her multidisciplinary background reflects her interests in equity, history, culture, and the ways visual storytelling can connect people and ideas.<\/p>\n During her studies at Brown University, Ire focused on public health inequities and reproductive care with special focus towards how art and culture shape policy. An accomplished printmaker and artist, Ire\u2019s work was featured in three exhibitions this summer: the WaterFire Arts Center, Featherstone Center for the Arts, and RISD\u2019s Gelman Gallery. In her free time, Ire enjoys reading, creating art, and spending time with friends.
