{"id":556,"date":"2022-08-19T13:30:13","date_gmt":"2022-08-19T13:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/deansoffice\/?p=556"},"modified":"2022-08-19T13:30:13","modified_gmt":"2022-08-19T13:30:13","slug":"tragic-loss-of-a-mhcds-student","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/deansoffice\/2022\/08\/19\/tragic-loss-of-a-mhcds-student\/","title":{"rendered":"Tragic Loss of a MHCDS Student"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-ogsc=\"black\">Dear Colleagues,<\/p>\n<p data-ogsc=\"black\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\">It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that<\/span>\u00a0Richard Ellison, MD, a member of the Class of '23 in the Master of Health Care Delivery Science (MHCDS) Program at Geisel and Tuck,\u00a0<span data-ogsc=\"black\">has died. Richard\u00a0was in Hanover for the residential portion of the MHCDS program when he passed away Thursday evening.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ogsc=\"black\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\">A resident of Luxemburg, Wisconsin, Richard was an Army-trained surgeon who enjoyed serving others. After retiring from the Army in 2015, Richard served as a traveling physician, providing temporary coverage for other surgeons at multiple hospitals across the U.S.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ogsc=\"black\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ogsc=\"black\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\">As we mourn the loss of this valued friend and colleague, our thoughts are with\u00a0<\/span>Richard\u2019s family<span data-ogsc=\"black\">\u00a0at this most difficult time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ogsc=\"black\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\">We urge students, faculty, and staff who would like to speak to a counselor on their own behalf or out of concern for someone else to go to Dick\u2019s House or contact Safety and Security at (603) 646-4000 at any hour. Faculty and staff will also find additional support available through the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dartmouth.edu\/eap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"0\" data-ogsc=\"rgb(149, 79, 114)\">Faculty\/Employee Assistance Program<\/a><span data-ogsc=\"black\">.
