What obstacles must be overcome to embrace change and modify behavior? How can we scale a successful intervention so that more people will benefit?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These are some of the key questions future students will learn to tackle as enrollees of a unique new graduate degree program\u2014a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/healthsciences.dartmouth.edu\/education\/degree-programs\/master-science-implementation-science\/program-overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #00693e\">Master of Science (MS) in Implementation Science (IS)<\/span><\/a>\u2014which will be offered by Dartmouth\u2019s Geisel School of Medicine in partnership with the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies beginning in September of 2025.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><div class=\"wpz-sc-box normal small  \"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/healthsciences.dartmouth.edu\/education\/degree-programs\/master-science-implementation-science\/program-overview\"><span style=\"color: #00693e\">Learn More<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div><\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse;width: 100%\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"740\" height=\"417\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jTWiDBaST6o?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/dcis\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/104\/2024\/08\/DartmouthMSIS_featured.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Implementation science is a burgeoning field that draws upon a rich and diverse set of established research traditions to address persistent gaps in moving evidence-based clinical practices into routine use in the real world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn other words, implementation scientists identify programs and policies that work, and collaborate with stakeholders to get people to actually use or follow them,\u201d explains Jeremiah Brown, PhD, a professor of epidemiology at Geisel and founding director of the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #00693e\"><a style=\"color: #00693e\" href=\"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/dcis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dartmouth Center for Implementation Science<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>(DCIS).<\/p>\n<p>Established last summer and housed at Geisel, DCIS serves as an academic home for IS research at Dartmouth, and as an axis for faculty, staff, and students to develop expertise in implementation science.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re very pleased to be launching our new MS in Implementation Science degree program,\u201d says Duane Compton, PhD, former dean of Geisel. \u201cWe experienced the need for how to put evidence-based knowledge into everyday practice, and through that we recognized that there is a dearth of education programs to train individuals with skills in implementation science. Thus, this new degree program will allow us to contribute to the rapidly increasing demand for trained experts in the field, and further position Dartmouth as a leader in implementation science nationally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/MSIS_web2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-21634 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/geiselmed.dartmouth.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/MSIS_web2.jpg\" alt=\"Woman at computer\" width=\"400\" height=\"431\" \/><\/a>The new graduate program will offer several distinctive features that will draw strong interest, especially from early-to-mid career professionals that want to develop expertise in the discipline.<\/p>\n<p>Dartmouth\u2019s MS in Implementation Science will be one of the first standalone master\u2019s programs in implementation science to be launched in the U.S.\u2014currently, there are very few comprehensive training programs available in IS, as most are offered as part of other master\u2019s programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will also be the first fully online graduate program at Geisel\u2014offered either over nine months or 18 months,\u201d says Brown, who notes that the program will launch at the same time as the medical school\u2019s MS in Health Data Science. \u201cHaving that format will give us the flexibility to provide a world-class program taught by national experts, at least a third of whom are based at other leading institutions across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe MS in Implementation Science will be Dartmouth\u2019s second fully online master\u2019s degree, following the launch of Thayer\u2019s online program earlier this year,\u201d says Joshua Kim, PhD, assistant provost for online learning strategy at Dartmouth College. \u201cThis new fully online MS in Implementation Science demonstrates Dartmouth\u2019s commitment to serve a global audience of diverse learners with a Dartmouth quality education.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The program will launch with 30 graduate students with a target of 50 students annually to be achieved within two to three years and will include international enrollment.
