CeCe Gutierrez Perez
About Me
Cece was born and raised in Torreon, Mexico. She attended Central Connecticut State University to pursue Division I golf and received her B.S. in Biomolecular Sciences in 2018. During her time there, she did research on multiple projects in developmental biology, analytical chemistry and microbiology. Her current work uses drug repurposing and fungal genetics to identify novel antifungals to treat Aspergillus and Fusarium infections in the context of fungal keratitis. Additionally, in collaboration with Microbiotix, she is working to identify novel antifungal lead compounds that target the hypoxia response pathway in Aspergillus fumigatus. Outside of lab, you’ll find Cece playing guitar, hosting Taco Tuesday for her friends or going on outdoor adventures with her beloved dog Sawyer.
