CGHE at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan

Tecla Coleman MPH’21, CGHE Program Manager, attended the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan, last November. Ms. Coleman participated in a stakeholder dinner series with high-level leaders from around the world focused on climate change, regenerative agriculture, and land use. The collaborative event was a forum for knowledge-sharing among farmers, Ministers of Agriculture, food manufacturers, journalists, policymakers, and civilians. Notable attendees included His Excellency Hailemariam Desalegn, the former Prime Minister of Ethiopia and chair of AGRA, an African-led institution committed to expanding agricultural innovations that enable small farmers to achieve higher incomes, improved livelihoods, and greater food security. COP29 lasted 12 days and attracted over 50,000 participants from nearly 200 countries. Food Tank, Future Economy Forum, and a host of other organizations sponsored the stakeholder dinner series.
