Spencer is a computational biologist whose research sits at the intersection of computation, AI, and biology\u2014exactly where the field is heading. Coming from a Lane Postdoctoral Fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University, where he works with Jian Ma, Spencer brings expertise in...<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 120px\">\ud83e\uddec Spatial transcriptomics integration across platforms\u2014enabling researchers to decode gene regulation across biological scales<br \/>\n\ud83d\udd2c Algorithmic pathway inference in metabolic and signaling networks<br \/>\n\ud83e\uddee ML frameworks bridging computation and experimental biology<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Spencer's recent work on unified spatial transcriptomics integration (Genome Research, 2025; RECOMB 2025) is already shaping how we approach multi-platform data. He'll join us as a Research Project Leader on the CQB COBRE Center, bringing deep expertise in the computational and AI methods that define modern biomedical data science. We firmly believe that he is a great fit for our community and that he will excel in this position just as the position will be great for him! <span class=\"markmq0icc0eh\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Subha<\/span> joined Dartmouth as of September 1, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span class=\"markmq0icc0eh\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Subha<\/span> was formerly an Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Florida, and before that he was in the Department of Statistics at the University of Missouri. <span class=\"markmq0icc0eh\" data-markjs=\"true\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Subha<\/span>\u2019s research interests include non-parametric Bayesian inference, hidden Markov models, survival-time modeling, data integration, meta-analysis and causal inference. Subha uses techniques from both the traditional statistics and machine learning domains and applies his work to cancer applications spanning biological (omics), clinical medicine and health care.
