Although the Geisel School of Medicine is a close-knit community, it\u2019s also a major research institution that regularly ranks among the nation's top medical schools for research, including funding per faculty member. Students play an integral role in the research conducted at Geisel, and the diversity of research at Dartmouth makes the medical school a rewarding place for curious students, whether they want to investigate the mechanisms of disease or analyze how care is delivered in communities across the U.S.<\/p>\n

Geisel is known for its collaborative research environment, which is evident in the many partnerships between researchers in different fields. At the Lung Biology Center<\/a>, for example\u2014one of several NIH Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence at Dartmouth\u2014researchers and clinicians work together to understand diseases such as cystic fibrosis and to use advances in the basic sciences to inform improvements in treatments for patients.<\/p>\n

Geisel faculty and students also collaborate with the faculty of Dartmouth College and Dartmouth\u2019s other professional schools: Thayer School of Engineering and Tuck School of Business.<\/p>\n
