Federal Direct Loan and Grad PLUS Loan Borrowers.

Promissory Notes
All borrowers will need to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) online at www.studentaid.gov. All federal loans are part of the Direct Lending program and are serviced by one of several agencies. You will be assigned to one of these agencies as shown on your disclosure statement.

Instructions for completing your Entrance Counseling Requirement
Federal regulations governing Title IV programs, including the Federal Direct Loan program, require that all students receive what is called "Entrance Counseling" before a school may certify a loan for them. Entrance Counseling provides each student with information regarding their rights and responsibilities as a federal loan borrower and helps students understand what it means should they enter default and what alternatives there are once they enter repayment.

To complete the Entrance Counseling requirement, visit the federal loan website www.studentaid.gov.

Once you have completed the process, we will be notified automatically and the confirmation will be kept on file.

If you have trouble with the online process, please contact us at geisel.financial.aid@dartmouth.edu.
