About Us

The World Health Committee of the DMS Alumni Council organized in 2002 to identify opportunities for alumni, medical students and graduate students to become involved in international service. An immediate priority of the committee was to develop a catalog of service opportunities for those interested in improving health and the quality of life of people throughout the world.

The committee initially collected its information in a notebook to provide a starting point for individuals to identify global needs and opportunities through which contacts can be made, both for graduates and students with special expertise as well as those with a broad interest in

helping others. In 2005 the resource guide was converted to an online version and placed on the Dartmouth Medical School Website.

As members of the DMS community, we are aware of the growing need for help all over the world. Recognizing the desire of many of our alums to reach out to those in need, members of the Alumni Council see this as a way of helping people to connect with those already working to improve the quality of human life.
