Senior Associate Dean for Research
Duane Compton, PhD, Professor of Biochemistry, is Senior Associate Dean for Research at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. This newly-created position will provide critically important leadership in moving our research enterprise forward. Professor Compton will spearhead a number of research initiatives in his new role, one of the most important of which is convening and chairing a new Biomedical Research Council, a faculty leadership committee that will chart the strategic direction for advancing research at the Geisel School of Medicine. An important emphasis will be on expanding translational research by supporting our students, recruiting the best and brightest to join them, along with postdoctoral fellows, basic science faculty, and physician investigators.
Professor Compton will also play a key role in strengthening our collaborations with Dartmouth College, the Thayer and Tuck Schools, Dartmouth-Hitchcock, and the VA to enhance cross-institutional interdisciplinary research. Duane's appointment signals a new level of the Geisel School's commitment to further characterize Dartmouth as an institution where connecting minds is the foundation for learning, discovery, and enriching the lives of those we serve.
