Configuring and Using Outlook 2010

If you do not currently use Outlook with another email address, follow the directions below. If you are already an Outlook user, skip to the directions for viewing multiple accounts.

Initial Setup

    1. When the program is open, say “Yes” to “Configure an email account.”
    2. Enter your name, as shown to others.
    3. Enter your full email address. (This will be either firstname.lastname@dartmouth.edu or firstname.middleinitial.lastname@dartmouth.edu, based on how your name appears on your Dartmouth ID card.)
    4. Type in/re-type your password, then press “Next.”
    5. In the pop-up window that appears, set the “User Name” field to yourID@kiewit.dartmouth.edu (e.g., d12345q@kiewit.dartmouth.edu).
    6. Enter your password again.
    7. Check the “Remember my credentials” box and click “Next.”

Check the "Remember my credentials" box and click "Next."

Repeat steps 5-8 until the pop-up window stops appearing (this may take 2-3 times) and then click “Finish.”

You are now able to utilize all email and calendar functions of Outlook 2010.

Viewing Multiple Accounts

If you already use Outlook for another email address, you can choose to view multiple email accounts within the same inbox. To do this follow the directions below:

  1. Make sure Outlook is closed completely.
  2. In the Start menu, click on “Control Panel” under “Settings.” Then click on the Mail Settings.
  3. In the pop-up window, click on “Show Profiles.”
  4. Click the “Add” button and name the profile “Office 365.”
  5. Enter your name, as shown to others.
  6. Enter your full email address. (This will be either firstname.lastname@dartmouth.edu or firstname.middleinitial.lastname@dartmouth.edu, based on how your name appears on your Dartmouth ID card.)
  7. Type in/re-type your password, then press “Next.”
  8. In the pop-up window that appears, set the “User Name” field to yourID@kiewit.dartmouth.edu (e.g., d12345q@kiewit.dartmouth.edu).
  9. Enter your password again.
  10. Check the “Remember my credentials” box and click “Next.”
  11. Repeat steps 8-11 until the pop-up window stops appearing (this may take 2-3 times) and then click “Finish.”
  12. At the bottom of the pop-up window make sure “Always use this profile” is selected and choose “Office 365” from the drop down window.
  13. Click the “Apply” button and then “Okay” to close the Mail settings. Re-Open the Outlook 2010 program.
  14. When prompted to enter your User Name and Password again, enter yourID@kiewit.dartmouth.edu (e.g., d12345q@kiewit.dartmouth.edu) as the User Name and click the “Remember my credentials” box.

Warning: If you are adding a second email address to Outlook 2010, make sure you are not currently logged into the account elsewhere during set-up (e.g., on another computer or a mobile device). This can possibly cause errors and will definitely make everything extremely slow.
