Location
The Department of Microbiology and Immunology spans two campuses. The Department administration is located at the Borwell Research Facility at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. The laboratories involved in immunology and parasitology research are also located at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in both Borwell and the Rubin Building in the Norris Cotton Cancer Center. The laboratories that focus on microbiology are located within the Vail Building on the Dartmouth College Campus in Hanover, NH.
Directions
From Boston, MA: (2.5 hours)
Take Interstate 93 North to Interstate 89 North. Take exit 18 and turn right onto Route 120. At the third light at the top of the hill, turn left onto LaHaye Drive, and turn right at the stop sign to go to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and the Geisel School of Medicine's Borwell and Rubin buildings. To go to The Geisel School of Medicine's Vail building: keep straight at the light at the top of the hill toward Hanover (about 2 more miles). Bear right in Hanover at the traffic light at the Mobil Station. Go through 2 more sets of traffic lights. Turn left at the 2nd set of lights and the Geisel School is on the right. The Vail building is the multi-storied research building on the right.
From Hartford, CT: (2.5 hours)
Travel Interstate 91 North to exit 13 (Norwich-Hanover) and turn right off the exit ramp. Go over the bridge and up the hill through traffic lights, and take the first left after the Hanover Inn located on the right (and "The Green" on your left) onto route 10. The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth is located approximately 1/2 mile on left. Follow the directions above for Vail Building. For the Borwell and Rubin buildings, from Interstate 91N, take Interstate 89 South to Exit 18 and follow the directions from Boston.
From New York: (4.5 hours)
Travel Interstate 95 North to Interstate 684 N and Interstate 84 E to Hartford, CT. Then Interstate 91 North to the Geisel School of Medicine in Hanover, or Interstate 91 North and Interstate 89 South to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and the Geisel School in Lebanon as described above.
From Burlington, VT: (2 hours)
Take Interstate 89 South. Take exit 18 and turn left onto Route 120. Follow directions above.
