The Office of the MD-PhD Program is located in building Borwell 652W in the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center on One Medical Center Drive in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is located on New Hampshire Route 120, midway between the towns of Lebanon and Hanover. Look for the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center sign (DHMC).

From Boston, MA (2.5 hours) or Manchester Airport, NH (1.5 hours)

Take I-93 North to I-89 North. Take Exit 18 for Lebanon, NH and turn right onto Route 120, toward Hanover. Follow Rt. 120 for about 3 miles to the entrance to DHMC.

From Massachusetts (2.5 hours) or Connecticut (2.5 hours)

Take I-91 North to I-89 South (just before you reach White River Junction). On I-89 South, take Exit 18 for Lebanon, NH. Turn left off the exit ramp onto Rt. 120 North. Follow Route 120 for about 3 miles to the entrance to DHMC.

From Burlington, VT (1.5 hours)

Take I-89 South to Exit 18 for Lebanon, NH. Turn left off the exit ramp onto Route 120 North. Follow Route 120 for about 3 miles to the entrance to DHMC.

From Rutland, VT (1 hour)

Take VT Rt. 4 East to the intersection with I-89 between Woodstock and White River Junction. Take I-89 South to Exit 18. Turn left off the exit ramp onto Rt. 120 North. Follow Rt. 120 for about 3 miles to the entrance to DHMC.

From St. Johnsbury, VT (1.25 hours)

Take I-91 South to I-89 South (just after the exit for White River Junction). Follow I-89 South to Exit 18. Turn left off the exit ramp onto Rt. 120 North. Follow Rt. 120 for about 3 miles to the entrance to DHMC.

Parking at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center

MD-PhD applicants must park in Lot 20 and may use the Lot 20 Shuttle Service. The Lot 20 Shuttle runs from 6AM - 11PM, Monday through Friday. Another option is to walk from Lot 20 to the Cancer Center Entrance. The Cancer Center entrance is just across the street from Lot 20.

Hanover Area Maps

From Boston, MA (2.5 hours)

Take Interstate 93 North to Interstate 89 North. Take exit 18 and turn right onto Route 120 to Hanover (5 miles). Bear right at the traffic light at the Mobil Station. Go through 2 more series of traffic lights. Turn left at the 2nd set of lights and the Geisel School of Medicine is on the right.

From Hartford, CT (2.5 hours)

Take Interstate 91 North to exit 13 (Norwich-Hanover) and turn right off the exit ramp. Go over bridge and up hill through traffic lights, and take the first left after the Hanover Inn (located on the right). The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth is located approximately 1/2 mile on left.

From New York (4.5 hours)

Take Interstate 95 North to Interstate 684 N and Interstate 84 E to Hartford, CT. Then Interstate 91 North to Hanover as described above.

From Burlington, VT (2 hours)

Take Interstate 89 South. Take exit 18 and turn left onto Route 120 to Hanover (5 miles). Bear right at the traffic light at the Mobil Station. Go through 2 sets of traffic lights. Turn left at the second set of lights and the Geisel School of Medicine is located on the right.

Transportation

Lebanon Municipal Airport serves the Upper Valley. As of July 2004, US Airways serves Lebanon, as do charter flights. The Airport is at Exit 20 on Interstate 89, 5 miles from the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Manchester Airport (NH) is a major international airport served by most major American and Canadian Airlines. Located near Interstate Route 89, we are approximately 60 miles northwest of the airport.

Burlington International Airport (VT) is a major international airport served by most major American (including Jet Blue and Canadian Airlines). Located near Interstate Route 89, we are approximately 90 miles southeast of the airport.

Boston Logan International Airport serves all of New England. Located approximately 140 miles southeast of the Cancer Center—Hanover is directly connected to Boston/Logan by the Dartmouth Coach many times daily.

Hertz, Avis and Enterprise

If you are travelling from places other than these airports and want to rent a car, you can visit rental companies' websites. Hertz, Avis and Enterprise have offices at each of the airports and drop-off points in and around Hanover, Lebanon and White River Junction.

College Travel Office

The College Travel Office is a good place to start for information about bus, train and car rental transportation. They will have schedules, fares, maps, tips for travel and even weather forecasts.
