SYNERGY Announces 2016 Community Engagement Research Pilot Grant Awards

SYNERGY-Logo-simpleWe are proud to extend congratulations to the 2016 SYNERGY Community Engagement Research Pilot Grant awardees. Following a review of 17 letters of intent, SYNERGY invited 10 full applications from which three awardees were selectedUnique to Community Engagement Research proposals is that all have a designated community partner(s) involved in the study design, execution, interpretations and dissemination of results. These grants are part of the SYNERGY Translational Pilot Award program.

Paul J. Barr, PhD (PI, The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice) in collaboration with Jim Matthews, Hanover, NH; Michelle Hinn, Piermont, NY; America Paredes, Senior Director, Mental Health America; and Laure Galbreath, Director, SAMHSA-HRSA – Health Care Options for People Experiencing Depression (HOPE*D): Phase1: End-user views and requirements of clinic-based interactive Option Grid decision aid for major depressive disorder

Elizabeth Carpenter-Song, PhD (PI, Community and Family Medicine and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice) and Sarah Kobylenski, MSW (Co-PI, Executive Director, The Upper Valley Haven) – Mental Health at the Margins: Engaging Low-Income Rural Individuals and Families to Enhance Wellbeing and Reduce Mental Health Disparities

Sarah Pratt, PhD (PI, Psychiatry and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice) in collaboration with Brian Collins, CEO, Community Partners NH – Evaluation of Fitness Promotion for People with Developmental Disabilities

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the 2016 SYNERGY Community Engagement Research Pilot Application Review Committee, and especially to the community members that served alongside their academic partners, for their hard work during the review process to select these Pilot Awardees.
